How to Clean an Ice Machine?

Dec. 01, 2020

An ice maker is a device that uses a refrigeration system to produce ice by passing a device through a water carrier in an electrified state. An ice machine is a refrigeration machine that cools the water through the evaporator by the refrigerant of the refrigeration system and then generates ice. According to the principle of the evaporator and the different production methods, the shape of the generated ice is also different, people generally according to the shape of the ice machine will be divided into particle ice machine, sheet ice machine, plate ice machine, tube ice machine, shell ice machine and so on.

The working principle of the ice machine

1. The chilled water in the water storage tank is pumped continuously through the plate or compartmentalized evaporator;

2. The compressor is operated through suction - compression - exhaust - condensation (liquefaction) - throttling - and then in the evaporator at a low temperature of -10 to -18 degrees evaporation heat absorption vaporization. Chilled water at 0 degrees water temperature continuously condenses into ice on the surface of the evaporator at even lower temperatures. When the ice layer condenses to a certain thickness, the evaporating temperature of the refrigerant reaches the temperature control setting, then the defrost solenoid valve is turned on and the heat pump is often used to remove ice. Then the next cycle is realized.

Ice Making Cycle

The water automatically enters a reservoir through a replenishment valve and is then pumped through a flow control valve to a diverter head where it is evenly sprayed onto the surface of the ice maker and flows like a curtain of water across the walls of the ice maker, cooling the water to its freezing point, while water that has not been frozen by evaporation flows through a porous trough into the reservoir to begin the cycle again.

Ice machine maintenance

Soak the filter in a neutral detergent solution, clean it with a soft-bristled brush, dry it, and install it. Not to exceed three months Exterior cleaning Wipe down with a cloth moistened with a neutral detergent solution Water system cleaning Follow the instructions in the "Cleaning Procedures" for not to exceed six months Disassemble water system components for cleaning and disinfection; clean and disinfect the storage refrigerator Follow the instructions in the "Disassemble components for cleaning (or disinfection)" for not to exceed six months. For dust, use compressed air to sweep from top to bottom; for oil, use commercial coil cleaner to clean. Check if the circuit wiring is loose, tighten or plug the wiring.

Cleaning procedures

(1) When the ice collection process is complete and the ice has fallen off the evaporator tray, turn the function switch to the "STOP" position.

(2) Removal of ice cubes from the refrigerator.

(3) will switch to the "cleaning" position, to start the cleaning or disinfection process, water began to be injected into the sink.

(4) When the pump is running, the water flows out of the distribution pipe and through the evaporation tray, adding the right amount of detergent to the sink.

(5) The ice machine will automatically complete the cleaning process, and automatically rinse the machine.

(6) After cleaning is complete, the ice machine enters the standby state. At this point the function off dial to the "ice" position, the ice machine begins to make ice.
